Soaring Spirit Dance Studio of San Jose, CA aims to provide students with a foundation of dance technique that integrates faith and worship with the arts. In our studio, students will learn to dance in a Christ-like, nurturing, wholesome environment. Costumes are modest, and music and movements are wholesome.

GREAT JOB Staff and dancers!

I am so honored to be part of this ministry!
I was privileged to hear so many wonderful comments as I wandered through the courtyard after the program.  I can't thank you all enough for honoring God with your gifts and talents. We are sorry that Soaring Spirit Founder Jamie Parnum, was not able to make it, but she would have been blessed at how you have carried her vision to the community. (We'll be sending her a video!)
Here are some comments I heard:

  • "I was so touched by the worship songs, especially that Hawaiian one.  That was such a synchronized and moving dance!" I loved the singing in it too! (Thanks Makalea)
  • "Amanda and the team did an amazing job!" (thanks to all especially Amanda, Sunny, Joan & Eunice)
  • "I wish i could afford to take some of those worship classes.  It was SO moving! I'd do anything to be part of this."
  • "I LOVED the variety!" (Thanks all)
  • The kids looked so cute!  (Thanks for sharing your heart about buying costumes, Amanda)
  • "It flowed so smoothly!"
  • "I can't say enough about Joan... She has consistgenly gone above and beyond the call of duty with my daughter." (thanks Joan!)
  • "The lighting really added so much to the show."..  and the lighting guy was the nicest friendliest guy" (Thanks Amanda for inviting Jack from your church--he was so excited to do this professionally!)
  • "Great facility!" (Thanks for your research Amanda!)
  • I just lost it during "I Can Only Imagine"  (thanks Chris)
  • When I said we prayed that God would be present, an apparent non-believer said "Well that must be what I felt --when I was close to tears." (Thanks God!)
  • My personal favorite: My granddaughter said to my daughter:"Mommy, you know I want to keep dancing forever. right?"

Share your comments and those you heard here! :)

Getting Ready for Recital

The week working up to recital is going to be a busy one! Here are a few key points that you need to remember.

  • Picture day is June 2nd - Check your recital handbook for your child's arrival time

During picture day, you will have the chance to view and pre-register for fall classes.
Take advantage of fall registration now and get your activites on the calendar before it fills up!

  • Bring your Hands and Feet Collection boxes, or checks made payable to The Music Place with "Hands and Feet Project" in the memo line, to picture day. We will total up the amount and announce how much was raised at the recital.
  • Dress rehearsal for recital is June 8th at 9:45am. Please bring dancer to theater in costume with hair and make up done. If dancer is in more than one dance, we will be letting you know individually this week which costume they need to be in first.
  • After rehearsal, dancers will be sent home for a break, then will need to arrive for the Matinee show at 3:15pm. After the first show, which begins at 4pm, dancers will stay backstage while they rest and eat before the 6:30 show. They will not be sent out to you in the audience.
  • Join us for a reception, with snacks and drinks, in the courtyard following the evening show!

All these details and more are included in your recital handbook. Please contact us if you are unclear about anything in that packet. Thank you for your diligence and patience with us while we put together this recital. The children are so eager to share their hardwork with you!

NEW Summer Sampler Program!

Click for full sized imageIt's time to start thinking about summer! We have a great new program to offer this year (between June 24th & August 3rd): a Summer Sampler program. This year, you only pay for the classes you can attend, and you can take as many different classes as you'd like! You can earn a FREE Dance Class too! Check out the schedule on the Summer Sampler Flyer...

Once you have chosen how many classes you would like to purchase (3, 6, or 12), the next step will be to submit an enrollment form, either online here or in studio.

If enrolling online, please follow these simple steps to ensure your form is filled out correctly.

  1. Under “Enrollment Information”, in the class name field, please type how many classes you are buying & the type of card, and indicate this enrollment is for a summer sampler card. For example, “6 class 30/45min. summer sampler card”.

  2. Select a preferred class and time from our list of available classes. This information will go in the “class day” and “time” fields.

  3. Be sure to include if you were referred by someone! We have a great referral rewards program!

When making your payment, please remember there is a $10 Summer processing fee. "Drop ins" do not need to pay a processing fee. Pay online or make your checks payable to “The Music Place”. Checks can be mailed to or dropped off at: 1617 Willowhurst Ave, San Jose 95125, or at the studio! After we have received payment and your enrollment form, we will keep track of your attendance at the dance studio on your child's summer sampler card. Each time you attend a class, we will mark the card to help you keep track of what each child has completed.

You will need to purchase one card per child you are enrolling. However, there is $5 off additional cards.

If you have any questions concerning the enrollment process, or our summer program, we'd love to help you with them! Contact us at info@soaringspiritdance.com, or call 408-971-7627.

Recital Tickets Now Available!

We are excited to announce that the recital tickets are now available for purchase! Listed below are the important details concerning purchasing
tickets. The recital will be held on June 8th with shows at 4:00pm and 6:30pm.

While there isn't a poor seat in the house, this year, we are offering priority and general
seating.

Priority seating tickets are $10. This includes the first seven rows in the theatre.
General admission tickets are $8. This includes the last nine rows.

Within priority and general seating, you will also have the choice of purchasing tickets for
the matinee show (which begins at 4pm) or the evening show (which begins at 6:30pm).
Children under the age of four do not need a ticket, so long as they will be sitting on a
lap. Likewise, your dancer does not need to purchase a ticket as they will stay backstage
during the show. All seats are first come first serve, but there will be a separate line in
the lobby designated for priority seating.

We are offering a new, simpler way to pay this year in addition to the current payment
options. You may still pay by:
Cash
Check (made out to The Music Place)
Card at the studio or over the phone
*NEW* Make your payment online and pick up tickets at studio whenever it's convenient
for you!
We will be checking our payment report pages several times a day to ensure that your
tickets are set aside and ready for pick up. Please visit  our payment page to complete your ticket purchase. In the "Payment is
For" field, include the number of tickets being purchased, general or priority, and which show time you are
purchasing these tickets for (e.g. 4 general tickets @ 6:30).

We will be selling tickets all the way up to and at the recital, however we do not know
if/when we will sell out! If you would like to stop by the studio and pay in person, you may
come between the following hours:

Monday- 3:00-5:00pm
Tuesday - 3:30-6:30pm
Wednesday - 11:00am-12:00pm, 1:00-5:30pm
Thursday - 4:00-6:00pm
Saturday - 9:00am-10:15am, 11:30am-1:30pm
